A relevant person’s representative (RPR) is an appointed friend or relative of an adult (known as the ‘relevant person’) who is subject to a deprivation of liberty under the deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS). Their role is to act on the adult’s behalf, in their best interests. If there is no suitable family member or friend, a paid professional will be appointed.
